The series of paintings I titled: “From the New World” is inspired by the Symphony No. 9 or “From the New World” composed by Czech musician Antonin Dvorak.
Dvorak had composed this extraordinary symphony when he was invited to the National Conservatory of Music in New York during 1982-1985. He was inspired in the "black melodies" as well as the music of the American Indians. He was inspired in music of his own land as well. From this, this musical work is extraordinarily universal rather than local.
I have been engrossed in these musical passages, expressing myself through my brush strokes -- free, spontaneous or gestalt.
I am pleasantly surprised by the musical atmosphere of my recent painting and its intuitive calligraphy that hints at a universal code.
