The series of paintings I title: "My Ancient Land / Mi Antigua Tierra" is inspired by the renowned Chilean classical composers: Juan Orrego-Salas: “Sextet for B flat clarinet, string quartet & piano, Op. 38, movement 1”; Enrique Soro: “Fantastic Dance”; Jorge Urrutia: “Suggestions of Chile Op.1”; Eulogio Dávalos: "Cueca for Pablo Neruda" and "Siempre"; Sylvia Soublette: “Roman Mass”, and René Amengual, “Symphonic Prelude”.
Immersed in this music as I painted, l felt it flow through me physically and found myself expressing both the movement of the music and my own emotions in free and spontaneous brush strokes that are musical as well as gestural.
